Pochacco (ポチャッコ, Pochacco) is one of the many fictional characters produced by Sanrio in 1989. He is drawn as a white dog with black floppy ears, a black button nose, but no visible mouth. He is often dressed in athletic attire, as he has a sporty and playful personality.

 Although he walks upright, he still has a hard time tripping over himself often; usually resulting in head injuries with an accumulation of bandages. This problem was apparently solved in a recent incarnation of him, as he is seen with a motorscooter.

Popularity

Due to the later introductions of other dog characters such as Pompompurin and Cinnamoroll, in 1996 and 2002, respectively, who themselves are stars of Sanrio in their own right, Pochacco’s popularity wanned, and no stand-alone merchandise series has been released since 1999. However, due to demand, the company made such production return in 2017, with the Ice Cream design series. Since then, Pochacco became beloved among fans once more – even reaching top 3 in the 2020, 2021 and 2024 character rankings.

Pochacco usually wears a red shirt or some kind of athletic wear. Here he is wearing a green striped shirt.
